Bottoms up!

Yea, so I l know I told you guys that I would do a "resolutions" post, but unfortunately I waited too long to draft said post and.....I really just don't feel like it anymore.  SO...you will more than likely just see my resolutions mentioned in future posts. 'kay?  

Anyway, I just got a new juicer in the mail and I am stoked.  One of my resolutions is to have a healthier diet, and I specifically wanted to incorporate juicing into it.  This year, I'm on a quest not to just LOOK better (does that quest ever end?), but to FEEL better as well.  As you know, I've already jumped on the green smoothie bandwagon and juicing will be the perfect little sidekick to that.  I ordered my nice AFFORDABLE juicer (with good reviews) from Amazon.  Affordable meaning less than 100 bucks. I decided to throw in a book on the subject as well.  I will do a review on the juicer and book, as well as my favorite concoctions, in the near future after I've had a chance to take both for a spin.  Stay tuned!

  3. I can't wait for your review either! I was JUST looking into getting a juicer...from Amazon. However, there were sooo many choices/reviews that I just got fustrated.:/ Not trying to put a RUSH on you, but I look forward to your review...ASAP! ha ha :)

  5. Hey Nik - heads up on juicing. I bought a juicer, and I was shocked at the amount of food it actually wastes. Since it only uses the JUICE - it throws out everything else (which for me was actually a lot of usable veggies). I actually found a traditional blender to be less wasteful and just as useful health-wise (it is not as smooth though). I look forward to seeing what you think!

  6. Have you seen the documentary "Fat, sick & Nearly dead" ?
    If not, it's a must see! Documentary about a guy that juices his way back to good health and inspires many others to do the same.

  7. I will definitely check that documentary out! Sounds like there is something to learn from it!

    Monique--With juicing, what's leftover is basically just the fiber of the fruit. You DO get some water-soluble fiber in the juice that is also essential to a healthy diet. Most (if not all) of the nutrients, vits & minerals are in the juice (and also skin of some fruits and veggies). There are a lot of fruits and veggies that have a skin that you would never put in a blender, but the nutrients can be juiced out. Not to mention, there are some veggies that a blender just can't handle (like carrots) Juicing is a way to double even triple your vegetable nutrient intake, but shouldn't totally replace eating veggies period, because getting some of that fiber IS good for you. Anyway, I'm going to post my review shortly and I explain some of this as well.

  9. Do I detect red in your hair? I'm trying to rid myself of this red in mines but it's very subtle and cute on you. (unless my eyes are fooling me)

  10. Yep, there is a hint of red from henna. I still do it from time to time. :)
